A Belated Manicure Monday - Vested Interest

Essie's Vested Interest

Vested Interest is a nice creamy gray-green. It reminds me of the deeper green of pond water, dirty old money, or army camouflage. It's a nice shade of green that is not too wild even for office life.

...and now for the scoring part -- The Finger Scale!

On a scale of one (I'll let you guess which one) to ten (ALL IN!) fingers, I give Vested Interest:

Cost: 6 fingers - Essie polishes tend to run about $8 per bottle, which is a bit higher than other brands of comparable quality, though I have yet to be disappointed with any color or formula of the brand.

Coverage: 10 fingers - The coverage of this color is amazing, and I considered going with a single coat, it went on so well. It dried quickly and looks flawless today.

Wear: 7 fingers - Essie tends to wear very well for about a week and then suddenly the entire nail worth of color pops off in one piece.

Clean-up: 10 fingers - While this isn't the greatest for the health of your nails, having the whole nail worth of polish come off in one piece sure does make clean-up a lot easier. Sometimes I don't need any polish remover at all.

Color: 10 fingers - The color in the bottle and on the hand are close-to, if not completely, identical.

Final Score:  9 fingers! (8.6 but I don't like to have partial bits of fingers, eew...)

Manicure Monday - Hot Cocoa

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Hot Cocoa

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Hot Cocoa

Hot Cocoa is a nice dusty rose color, and holds up pretty well, though not quite the 10 days the package suggests. This picture was taken on day 5 and there is a bit of wear starting to show at the tips of my nails. It's a good choice for something demure and muted for work, and I think it was a good choice to get me in the mood for autumn.

...and now for the scoring part -- The Finger Scale!

On a scale of one (I'll let you guess which one) to ten (ALL IN!) fingers, I give Hot Cocoa:

Cost: 8 fingers - I don't remember exactly how much I paid for this color but since it's my only Rimmel polish, I'm guessing I got it because it was on sale. It's not a typical color I would choose.

Coverage: 7 fingers - The wide brush helps with application but the formula is thin and still a bit streaky and uneven in some places even after 2 carefully applied coats.

Wear: 6 fingers - Hot Cocoa does not quite live up to the long wearing promise of this line of polishes.

Clean-up: 10 fingers - I use acetone polish remover, and it took 1 total cotton pad to clean up. No staining, easy to remove.

Color: 9 fingers - I got almost exactly what I expected. This shade is a bit more pink in the bottle, and a bit more tan on the hand.

Final Score: 8 fingers!
